Candle making instructions for beginners
Instructions for making a container candle
You will need:
- Container (glass, vase)
- Container wax
- Wick
- Scales
- Thermometer
Additionally: wick holder, stirring stick, scissors, container for a water bath
Steps:
1. Preparation
Calculate the amount of wax and aroma for your container.
The melting point and aroma load level are indicated in the description for each type of wax.
2. Melt the wax
Measure out the wax and melt it in a water bath or in a wax heater, observing the melting temperature recommended for the wax. Stir gently, avoiding overheating.
Do not heat the wax above 90 °C.
3. Prepare the container
Wipe and heat the container to 40-50 °C. Secure the wick in the center with a holder.
4. Add fragrance
When the wax has cooled to the specified temperature for adding fragrance, add it and stir thoroughly for 2-3 minutes.
5. Pouring wax
Cool the wax to the recommended pouring temperature and slowly pour into the container, avoiding bubbles.
6. Hardening
Let the candle cool and stand for 24-48 hours at room temperature. Do the first test of the candle no earlier than 2-3 days after pouring. The recommended time for holding the candle before use is about 10 days.
Important: to achieve the best results and quality of the candle - we strongly recommend conducting your own tests of pouring, temperature conditions, percentage of fragrances and dyes.
The quality, color and aroma of the candle are affected by many factors, such as: temperature and humidity in the room, the quality of the materials used, the size of the containers for pouring, the temperature regime of heating the wax and pouring, the amount of additives used, the size and quality of the wick and much more.
Instructions for making a mold candle
You will need:
- Silicone or plastic mold
- Mold wax
- Wick
- Scales
- Thermometer
Additionally: wick holder, scissors, awl, stirring stick, container for a double boiler
Steps:
1. Preparation
Calculate the amount of wax and aroma, as for a container candle, taking into account the individual recommendations for each wax. The melting point and aroma load level are indicated in the description for each type of wax.
2. Melt the wax
Melt the wax at the recommended temperature, stirring gently.
Do not heat the wax above 90 °C.
3. Prepare the mold
Wipe and dry the mold. If necessary, make a hole for the wick with an awl or use a holder.
4. Add fragrance
When the wax has cooled to the specified temperature for adding fragrance, add it and stir.
5. Pouring
Cool the wax to the recommended pouring temperature and pour into the mold. This will ensure uniform hardening.
6. Hardening
Let the candle cool and stand for at least 24 hours at room temperature. Then carefully remove the candle from the mold. Do the first test of the candle no earlier than 2-3 days after pouring. The recommended time for keeping the candle before use is about 10 days.
Important: to achieve the best results and quality of the candle - we strongly recommend conducting your own tests of pouring, temperature conditions, percentage of fragrances and dyes.
