The crystal got its name from the Greek word "apato", which means "to deceive". For many years, this stone was mistaken for aquamarines, beryls, tourmalines and other gems. This precious mineral can still be confused with Paraiba tourmaline, topaz or aquamarine due to its soft neon color. Apatites come in different shades: colorless, green, brown, yellow, purple, gray, pink, blue and light blue. Light blue and light blue stones are found in Brazil, Mexico, Myanmar and Sri Lanka.
